A-LEVEL students anxiously awaiting the release of their results tomorrow are being told not to panic if they do not get the grades they need.
The University of Worcester has set up a helpline, organised visit days, and put together a guide to clearing online to help ease any exam worries.
University registrar and secretary John Ryan said the main piece of advice for students when applying through the UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service) clearing process was “not to panic” and to access the range of help available.
“Our advice line was a great success last year and we anticipate that it will be equally, if not more popular, this year,” he said. “It offers students the chance to have a chat with an adviser and explore the options available to discover which course is right for them.
“Whether via our website, advice line or a clearing visit day, students can find out about the range of courses available and we can help those who have achieved higher or lower grades than they were expecting.”
The helpline can be accessed by calling 01905 855111. It will staffed on weekdays between 9am and 5pm tomorrow, and 10am to 4pm on Saturday.
Visit afternoons at the University of Worcester, where prospective students can talk with admissions staff and tutors and take a tour of the St John’s campus, will be held this Friday and Saturday; Wednesday, August 20 and Thursday, August 21 from 1pm to 3pm each day. No prior booking is needed.
An online advice to clearing is also available on the university’s website worcester. ac.uk/clearing while the admissions team can be contacted by e-mail on clearing@worcester.ac.uk.
