A man was airlifted to hospital with head injuries after a two car smash in Tenbury Wells.

West Midlands Ambulance service received three calls at around 5.30pm yesterday about the crash between a white Citroen dispatch panel van and a blue Vauxhall Vectra Elegance.

A rapid response car and ambulance were sent to the A456 between Newnham Bridge and Tenbury Wells.

An air ambulance from Cosford took one man, believed to be in his 40s, to Selly Oak hospital for further treatment although his injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

The road was closed due to it being blocked and police officers set up diversions.

The road reopened at 9.50pm.
