THE annual garden party of the Worcester Anglo Hellenic Club was held on Saturday, July 19, in the garden of John and Loretta Proctor at Malvern, looking out on to the hills.
Following the rain and floods which disrupted last year’s event, the weather was bright and dry, if rather cool.
In the absence of master chef Soteris Georgiou there was no barbecue this year, but members had prepared a wide range of tasty Greek dishes. Greek music played discreetly in the background. A good time was had by one and all.
Chairman David Leggott rounded off the party by making two presentations – to Loretta Proctor for her hospitality for the evening and to Liz Johnson who was retiring after four years as treasurer.
As usual there will be no meeting during August and the next event will be on Thursday, September 25, at Worcester Golf and Country Club, Bransford Road, Worcester at 7.30pm.
It will feature the Greek film Rembetiko – a fictionalised account of the famous singer Marika Ninou – in Greek, with English subtitles. The sound track by Stravros Xarharkos is justly famous.
New members and visitors are always welcome. For further information contact Pat Bosworth, membership secretary on 01905 422789, or visit the club website: www.wahc.org.uk.
