COMEDY double act Humphrey and Renshaw have once again been let loose for the Worcester Festival.
The duo, former King’s School students and firm friends since youth, have been performing live on the city’s streets and next week, for two nights only, take to the stage of Worcester’s Swan Theatre.
The aptly named sketch show, Contains Small Parts, follows on from last year’s triumphant Warning: May Contain Nuts and will see Ben Humphrey and Simon Renshaw play yet more silly characters in the vein of Monty Python.
“We’ve really put a lot into this year’s show,” said Humphrey, who studied at the prestigious Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.
“There are a lot of new sketches but old favourites too.”
Audiences will once again meet Jeremy Vile, a comic take on ITV talk show host Jeremy Kyle, and the drama teacher with a penchant for ‘theatrical layers’.
Fellow former King’s student George Watson, who made his debut last year, will also return.
The show is being directed by Worcester Festival director Chris Jaeger, a man with bags of experience to say the least.
“It’s our fourth year at the festival and we’ll keep coming back as long as Chris keeps asking us,” said Renshaw, who studied film at Southampton Institute.
“To have Chris direct feels like a real accomplishment. We’re thrilled.”
The boys are getting used to success.
Last year they took their street act to Poland as part of the Lodz international street festival and they are currently preparing a radio pilot.
The Worcester Festival show, at the Swan on Thursday, August 21, and Friday, August 22, will be filmed by Bravado Productions and a live DVD will be released in time for Christmas.
For tickets, priced £10, call the box office on 01905 611427. Book soon as Friday is selling out fast.
