A NEW-BORN zebra and six white lion cubs will be the stars of the show tonight when West Midland Safari Park is featured on national television.
Viewers tuning into new Channel Five series Michaela’s Zoo Babies at 6pm will see park staff monitoring an expectant zebra, whose labour lasts well into the night, as well as two apparently-pregnant sea lions – Winnie and Stinky – and the mischievous young lion cubs.
The 10-part series, presented by Michaela Strachan, started yesterday and aims to capture the drama and the magic surrounding the birth of animals in zoos and wildlife parks across the UK.
West Midland Safari Park staff are used to working with film crews – they were stars of the ITV1 Central Safari Park series in 2006 and 2007.
The park is open late every evening throughout August – gates re-open at 4.30pm, with last admission at 7pm.
Admission costs £5.50 per person, but amusement rides cost extra.
