A WORCESTER grandmother celebrated her 70th birthday by sponsoring a race at Pitchcroft.
Anne Shinnick, who was 70 on Thursday, was joined by her family and friends at Worcester Racecourse on Friday to mark the occasion.
“I just love the races,” she said. “So I decided that for my 70th I wanted to sponsor a race. It’s really exciting, seeing my name in the programme.”
Mrs Shinnick, of Tolladine Road, said both her mother and father had worked at Pitchcroft for a number of years, which eventually led to her love of the sport.
She sponsored the third race at Friday’s meeting, titled Annie’s 70th Birthday Selling Handicap Hurdle.
