A GOOD samaritan got into a fight with a neighbour and then trashed his car.

Christopher Warman used a metal car jack to smash up Ronaldo Carvalho’s Volkswagen Polo following a punch-up.

Warman, aged 30, of Saddler’s Walk, Blackpole, Worcester, admitted criminal damage when he appeared before magistrates in Worcester.

The fight happened on the landing of the flats in Saddler’s Walk at about 3am on Saturday, June 21, after Mr Carvalho returned from a night at Tramp’s nightclub in Worcester city centre where he had drunk seven pints of beer.

Sarah Stock, prosecuting, said Warman intervened following a row between Mr Carvalho and his crying wife who both lived in the flat above him with their two children.

“Mr Carvalho said to Mr Warman, ‘Have you got a problem?’ Mr Warman said, ‘My only problem is with people who beat their wives and partners’,” Ms Stock said.

The fight which erupted on the landing left Warman with cuts to his forehead and the bridge of his nose and a grazed elbow while Mr Carvalho suffered a cut lip and swollen forehead.

Mr Carvalho returned to his flat covered in blood and Warman went downstairs and got a car jack.

Ms Stock said: “Mr Warman said he would get revenge and he went to the car and smashed the windows. He said ‘come down here and I will kill you. I’m going to come up there and get you.”

He then smashed the back window and front passenger window of Mr Carvalho’s car and left large scratches on the car’s bodywork and punctured one of the tyres.

Shattered glass also damaged the two child seats.

Police had been called to a previous incident at Mr Carvalho’s flat in June.

Barry Newton, defending, said Mr Warman has suffered significant injuries in the fight, including a broken knuckle and ‘horrible injuries’ to the front and back of his head which were consistent with being kicked.

Police took photographs of the injuries but no charges were brought against Mr Carvalho.

Mr Newton said: “He went upstairs out of concern for Mrs Carvalho.

“His initial actions were those of a good samaritan.”

Warman received a 12-month conditional discharge and was ordered to pay £200 compensation to Mr Carvalho.

The court ordered the destruction of the car jack.
