A CHARITY is asking for goalposts to be moved because of concerns they are too near vulnerable residents’ homes.
The posts, on playing fields near the Trefoil Close play area in St Peter’s, Worcester, were installed by city council workers so youngsters could play football.
Andrew Deakin, of Scope’s service staff team, has asked for the posts to be relocated further away from the back gardens of a residential care home in Thistle Close because he sais they could cause “distress” to the three occupants, one of whom suffers with paranoia.
He explained: “My worry is footballs going over the fence and youngsters having to knock the door to retrieve them.”
The comments were made at a recent meeting of St Peter’s Parish Council.
Parish councillors advised Mr Deakin to raise the issue with the city council’s parks department which carried out the goalpost move on Wednesday, July 23.
