Did you hear the earthquake this week? Well, to be honest, I think I might have, but it could have been the memsahib snoring.
Well it woke Wolfie up as he had a bark and a growl at exactly the right time, but I wasn’t sure what it was until the next morning.
I do recall the one about 25 years ago. It was about 8.30am and not to be too graphic, but I was sat on the loo at the time, and everything shook for about 20 seconds.
Having had a curry the night before I was confused for a while.
Had a day in the garden this week, well, a big part of a day, and thoroughly enjoyed it.
I enjoy my job – my boss reads this – but there are times when I would love to work outside, with nature, growing things and creating something that lasts.
Radio can be fun, but as someone once said today’s news is tomorrow’s history.
JPG, grandson, was round this week, and he has introduced me to a whole new world.
He loves to watch a TV show called In The Night Garden and if you have never seen it, there are some very unusual characters in it.
Igglepiggle and Upsydaisy are two of them, and there is a Ninky Nonk and a Pinky Ponk, one of which is a large air-ship type balloon that goes round blowing raspberries!
I am not sure which one it is.
Anyway, Joshua thinks it’s great and sits and watches it all while Grampy Dave has 40 winks.
I often wonder at the minds of whose who write such things.
Talking of great minds I nipped into the Barmaids on Saturday, as the rugby was on the TV, and it was very busy in the back bar.
At least 10 people in there, so Electric Ted, our landlord, was struggling to cope with the rush.
Anyway, as I entered the talk as ever was somewhat bizarre, and centred around old tins of treacle, golden syrup, you know the Tate and Lyle stuff.
Twiggy reckoned they had a motto on the side, which they did, and they asked me what it was, as when I was on Mastermind, treacle tins was my chosen specialist subject… not.
Anyway, I thought it was something like “out of darkness cometh light”, but my suggestion was ridiculed and it turns out it used to say “Out of sweetness, strength”, so I reckoned I was close. I never did find out why this was the topic of conversation.
Anyway, what a great win by England, I thought they really fought hard for it and they have some stick, so well done.
Off to Sale tonight to do the commentary on the Warriors game.
Will they win? Well, if they do I reckon the locals will think another earthquake has hit the area as the Warriors celebrate.
