The Summer so far has been a very interesting one for Warriors fans with the coup of singing Rico Gear, 2 other All Black players and 3 more players who look as if they will fit right in to the Warriors squad.

The first game of the season is not until the weekend of the 14th/15th/16th September and already the support has their collective mouths watering in anticipation of seeing our new signings play. But that won’t be until after the World Cup in France and the conclusion of the Air New Zealand Cup, which will means Sam Tuitupou, Greg Rawlinson and Rico Gear won’t pull on a Warriors shirt much before the middle of December, by which time there will have been 7 rounds of the Guinness Premiership already played. Some tough fixtures to be played against Bath Rugby (a) ,London Wasps (h), Gloucester Rugby (a), Saracens (h), Leeds Carnegie (a), Leicester Tigers (a) and Sale Sharks (h) all have to be faced before our illustrious signings will be able to make their mark on the Guinness Premiership.

I am not trying to be negative just attempting to temper my own soaring positive feelings about the season. It all looks so good and sometimes when something looks too good, it is too good, but with the balance of having 7 games with an under strength squad and then so much quality to come that should make things right with the Karma fairy I hope.

All of the clubs in the league will be under strength during the World Cup so there may be some variable results in the first couple of months.

In the mean time there is the Tri Nations to watch, where a couple of our signings may get some game time, then it will all go quiet in the build up to the new season… Can I wait…. Well I will have to!!!!
