What an exhausting day..It started with meeting some fellow Warrior fans in a town centre pub for breakfast. Then on to the first packed bus up to Sixways. Did a tour around the ground stopping off at the ticket office to renew my season ticket, got a program and a couple of pints of cider, as it was still happy hour and generally just soaked up the atmosphere of what could be our last match day in the Prem for a year.

All the Warriors fans I spoke to had a different view of the day’s outcome. Some were sure that we would win, some that we would lose but stay up and some that we were going down.

When the Warriors came out for their warm up, the butterflies started and I felt sick and scared. Joined in the chorus of WARRIORS, WARRIORS and watched them closely during their warm up routine for signs of injury or nerves, but all seemed well.

Went to my seat about 15 mins before the game and chatted some more with my fellow season ticket holders who have put up with my considerable volume over the last season. Then the players came out to a huge amount of noise. It was awesome, spine tingling and goose bump raising. I still felt sick.

Kick off and the rest is a blur of rising hope as 1 then 2 trys were scored and converted. Then Dan Scarborough scored for Saracens!!! He’s only been on the pitch 5 minutes!! Darn it… but the news from Frankin’s Gardens was the London Irish were 12 to 10 up at half time…More nervousness and nauseas over half time and then more hand wringing, chanting and cheering a Rass went over in the corner and Shine popped over a drop goal.

Finally the whistle went on the longest game of my Warrior supporting career and I was in tears. Hugging all around me and whooping like a banshee….The players were hugging each other, the fans were hugging each other, whilst raising the chant of WARRRIORS WARRIRORS to a new level of volume. The support had been magnificent all match and now they had what they had been screaming for, the Warriors were going to be in the Guinness Premiership next season. Oh and I didn’t feel sick any more.

The rest of the day was spent drinking and chatting to very happy Warrior fans and one or two of the Warriors who came over the to the Supporters bar.

Thanks for the Guys… The day was brilliant, totally awe-inspiring.

There will of course be consequences spending most of the season at the bottom of the table will have its repercussions. But I am confident that the measures taken will be well thought out as planning is what Cecil Duckworth has done best at Worcester Rugby.

I have been accused of be un-realistic and of wearing rose tinted spectacles for my un-erring optimism in regard to the Warriors fate. Even when the situation looked bleak at 9 points adrift I would not join in the feeding frenzy on various internet message boards that ripped all that was blue and gold apart. But I am not so naive to think that the coaching and playing staff will be intact for next season. But I do hope that John Brain will have a role. He has dragged the club back from the brink, from a deficit that no club has recovered from before. Some have said he is dour and uninspiring, but the way the Warriors have turned round the dire situation they were, that cannot be true.

The hang over is wearing off but the smile is still just as broad and I have the match recorded to watch all over again tonight!!!!

See you all next season….

PS.... why does there have to be a down side to any good day.. I lost my mobile phone!!!!.. So any one reading this that found a Nokia N80 on Saturday Night Sunday morning Please let me know.... Ta.....
