What a day yesterday was...even though it was my day off it was hectic...christmas shopping (yes Im the smug one who has finished!!) a trip to Asda and my daughter's first nativity play. In the evening I went out with friends for a meal and a humiliating quiz night..but my biggest dilema of the who day was whether or not to overtake a funeral car...

After feeling pleased with myself for completing my present shopping for my wife, daughter and friends I was travelling back to Grandma's to pick up my daughter. On the dual carriageway back from redditch i encountered a slow moving single file of traffic I couldnt see what was holding everything up but everybody was politely forming a single line so i followed suit. As the road straightened out I could see a herse (is that spelt right?) funeral car uphead. Now I know it is respectful not to overtake so i patiently crawled with the other 50 cars for about 5 mins.

But when i looked at my watch I had about 25 minutes to pick my daughter up so i could take her to her nativity play...then somebody broke the ice and slowly but definately overtook the queue of cars edging past the herse...then another did the same so debated and decided to take the plunge. As i crawled up past the row of crawling cars i approached the herse and felt oblliged to slow down even more...as I crept past it I saw the funeral car was being driven by 2 sombre looking gents in black...but no coffin in the back! So my question is was I right or wrong to overtake??

I almost forgot i even managed to squeeze in some coaching yesterday although i wasnt actually doing the coaching I listened and gave feedback to two coaches on my personal diploma course running a session. Coaching is a fantastic process and is not about getting advice or being told what to do...its about communicating your worries and aspirations to your coaching and allowing them to guide you skillfully through the process to enable you to set yourself challenging goals.

Im running some coaching sessions later in week with some trainee managers at Asda and attending the chamber of commerce breakfast meeting at Canons tomorrow so I will keep you informed.

Bye for now
