A CAR park at Worcestershire Royal Hospital will be improved.
The staff car park at the Elgar Unit, a specialist mental health ward, will be resurfaced and lights will be added to make it safer for workers.
Worcester City Council has granted planning permission and said the scheme will “constitute an improvement on the existing situation”.
“The existing car park has an uneven surface and does not have parking spaces formally marked out.”

The work will result in the creation of 75 marked spaces, including eight electric vehicle charging spaces and six motorbike spaces.
The car park, which is accessed from Malvern View, can currently accommodate up to 83 vehicles - in theory - but spaces are not marked and large parts of the site are left underwater when it rains.
A second car park for patients and visitors at the front of the Elgar Unit, accessed via Newtown Road, isn’t affected by the plans.
