A MAN and a woman have been taken to hospital after a 'head-on' collision in which the driver of the other car left the scene. 

The crash, which required firefighters to cut the pair out of a car, happened last night (December 1) in Woodlands in Evesham. 

One driver left the scene of the crash before police arrived.

An air ambulance was called out, however the man and woman were transported to hospital by land as "their injuries were not believed to be serious."

A Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: "Two crews – one each from Evesham and Broadway Fire Stations – were called at 7.15pm on December 1 to an RTC involving a small vehicle in Woodlands, Evesham.

"The incident involved two vehicles which had collided head-on.

"Drivers’ and passengers’ doors were removed using cutting equipment.

"The driver of one vehicle left the scene while two casualties were extricated by fire service personnel before being handed over to the ambulance service.

"Police and air ambulance also attended."

The two people injured in the crash, a man and a woman, were taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital. 

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called to reports of a two-car RTC on Woodlands at 7.01pm last night, one ambulance attended the scene.

"On arrival we discovered one two patients, a man and a woman.

"They were both treated for injuries not believed to be serious before being taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital."

No arrests have been made, however police are investigating the incident. 

A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: "We received a call around 7pm yesterday evening (1 December) with a report of a road traffic collision in Woodlands, Evesham.

"Officers arrived to find two vehicles involved and one of the drivers had left the area.

"Enquiries are on-going."
