A LEADING protective clothing supplier has moved its headquarters to the outskirts of Worcester as it looks to grow after 45 years in the industry.

Pulsar has left its current base in Redditch to a open new warehouse in Indurent Park, Broomhall.

The 45,000 square foot headquarters will help the company triple its development capacity.

A grand opening of the new site was held on Friday (November 29).

Stuart Jukes, managing director at Pulsar, said: "The relocation and upsize of our headquarters marks the next stage of growth for Pulsar and strengthens our journey of pushing boundaries in hi-visibility clothing and safety garments.

"We needed a location that combined size, cutting-edge design and a breadth of amenities for our staff, and Indurent Park was the perfect match for us.

"The state of the art warehouse will enhance our capabilities threefold and emphasises our commitment to long-term business growth."

The company was founded in 1979 by Mr Jukes' father, Ian, as Praybourne Limited and has sold over 4 million items since.

The new location includes office space and meeting rooms as well as a large warehouse space.

Pulsar hope the new head office with give the company the opportunity to expand and offer even more employment opportunities for residents.

David Smith, sales and marketing director, said: "We want to double our output over the next five years so it stands to reason we will double our staff.

"We want to take the business from 26 heads to over 50 and I think that's very possible."

Pulsar had been based in Redditch since its founding, but infrastructure had become the limiting factor for the business.

Mr Jukes explained why the business has moved to Worcester: "Worcester is a much more vibrant city, it has a great proximity to the motorway and Worcestershire Parkway and there isn't this kind of development going on in Redditch.

"For us to get a much larger building is fantastic and the logistics are amazing."

Now, the company is looking at taking advantage of Worcester's further education.

Mr Jukes added: "We would like to make contact with the University of Worcester and see if we can get some students and apprentices in.

"We have loads of opportunities, from product design to marketing."

"It's a great stepping stone coming from university into a business like ours."
