A SCHOOL in Worcester once seen as a lost hope has picked up an almost perfect report.
Tudor Grange Academy has recently been inspected by Ofsted and picked up four outstanding grades and one good.
The school, on Bilford Road, was previously known as Elgar Technology College.
The college had a long history of struggling to provide an adequate setting for the education of its students and was placed in special measures, nearing the point of closure.
Tudor Grange Academy Solihull was tasked with collaborating with the school to help turn things around in 2009, launching Tudor Grange Academy Worcester.
Since then, the school has seen steady but consistently improving progress to its reports.
David Butler took over as headteacher in 2019 but had been working for the Tudor Grange Academy Group since the Bilford Road school joined the trust.
"The report is a validation of all the hard work we have done here.
"It's amazing to see the transformation that the school has had."

In the Ofsted report, inspectors graded the school as outstanding for behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management, and sixth form provision, and rated the quality of education as good.
The regulator no longer provides one word grades for schools.
The report highlighted the steps the school takes to improve the lives of students: "The school is unwavering in its commitment to ensuring that every pupil can succeed, providing tailored support for those who require it.
"The vision of being ‘determined and ambitious for every child’ is evident throughout the school.
"The school is acutely aware that some pupils and their families face additional challenges.
"For pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), curriculum adaptations are thoughtfully designed to ensure they learn alongside their peers."
However, Mr Butler sees the OFSTED report as just one measure of the school's performance: "There's also student happiness and community support and that's what special about this school.
"The children have built a garden at Belmont Car Home, they take part in volunteering, they run our winter fair.
"You cannot measure these types of elements that have been fundamental to the school's and students' success."
Claire Maclean, CEO at Tudor Grange Academy Trust, added: "I am extremely proud of the recent Ofsted inspection report for Tudor Grange Academy Worcester, what a wonderful journey this school has been on.
"It has deservedly received recognition for the outstanding features that are serving the children so well."
