UNRULY yobs have left volunteers frustrated after a spate of criminal damage to a new play park.
Supporters of Rushwick's latest community project have repeatedly had to come to repair or remove parts intentionally damaged.
Steven Hemsworth, Rushwick Parish councillor, said: "The park is run by volunteers and it is funded by the parish council.
"It's very frustrating for us as we haven't had a problem with anti-social behaviour for a long time.
"When you get new stuff, there's always a group of people that will cause a nuisance."
The new equipment was installed on Friday, October 25, but Cllr Hemsworth began to notice issues as soon as the construction fencing came down.
He said: "Shortly after it opened, about six of the windows were kicked out.
"Then, another nine were broken a couple of weeks ago.
"It's an unlit area with no surveillance so we haven't seen any of the damage happening."
Police officers have launched an investigation into the damage and are hoping someone may have seen something.
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "It is suspected that this type of incident has taken place on two separate occasions since the opening of the play equipment.
"The most recent incident is suspected to have taken place between Monday, November 11, and Wednesday, November 13.
"If you have information or footage that could be linked to this incident, please let us know."
The project, which was funded by the Malvern Hills District Council's Section 106 grant, cost £130,000 and included the new tower climbing frame, an obstacle course, a new pathway and maintenance for the adjacent football pitch.
Cllr Hemsworth is yet to find out how much it could cost to replace the damaged parts: "I've been in contact with the manufacturers and now I'm waiting to hear back from them, but I imagine there will be a cost involved.
"What's most disappointing is the kids have loved it so far and the feedback has been amazing.
"It'd be lovely to come down with my family without having to clean things up every time I am here."
