RESIDENTS in a part of Worcester feel 'forgotten about' after the area was snubbed from getting late running buses during one of the city's biggest weekends.

Running hours of buses to Dines Green, Warndon, Malvern and Catshill have all been extended later into the evening by First Worcester to help people get to and from the Victorian Christmas Fayre on Thursday (November 28) to Sunday (December 1).

Cllr Tor Pingree said: "It is fantastic that First Bus has extended some services into the evening to help residents get to the fayre.

"The bus services they have extended are the number 30, 35, 44 and 144, but many residents have been asking why they have not extended the 31 too.

"The lack of bus coverage over the Victorian Fayre is just another thorn in the side for residents of St Clement.

"These residents have told me that they feel forgotten about by First Bus and by the county council.

The 31 bus runs along Cripplegate Park to Henwick Park and covers the University of Worcester.

From Henwick Park, it can take over 30 minutes to reach the city centre on foot.

Other buses, such as the 28 to Red Hill and 32 to Broomhall will not be extended.

A spokesperson for First Worcester said: "The enhancements to a number of our services during the city's Victorian Christmas Fayre are above and beyond our usual services and will help even more people enjoy the event.

"We've looked at our data and have ensured the enhancements are added to routes in all different directions across the city where there is greatest need.

"These enhancements are in addition to our sponsorship and wider support of the fayre which also includes providing a park and ride for the event and offering special discounted group tickets."

Worcestershire County Council was also contacted for a comment.

Worcester's Victorian Christmas Markey usually attracts thousands of people into the city centre across the four days.
