A MAN has been taken to hospital after a car flipped onto its roof.

The incident happened at around 9.40am this morning (Tuesday November 26) on the A449 Claines Island.

Police, firefighters and medics attended the incident which closed the A449 from the Kidderminster direction, with one man taken to the Worcestershire Royal.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "We received a call around 9.40am this morning (26 November) with a report of a collision on the A449, Claines Island.

"Officers arrived to find two cars involved, one of which had flipped onto the roof.

"One man was taken to the Worcester Royal with injuries."

A spokesman for Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue said crews from Malvern and Worcester attended.

They said: "One vehicle had overturned on the side of the carriageway with one male casualty medically trapped.

"The casualty was extricated from the vehicle and handed over to the care of the ambulance service.

"The A449 was closed from the Kidderminster direction.

"Police also attended.

"The incident was marked as pending closure at 11.04am."

West Midlands Ambulance Service have been contacted for comment.
