A WOMAN is seriously injured after a car crash closed a major road in Worcester.
The woman had become trapped in a black car following the two-car crash on Bath Road this morning (Tuesday).
Emergency services had closed Bath Road while firefighters worked to extract the woman from the car.
She has now been taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called to reports of a traffic collision on Bath Road in Worcester just after 8.50am.
"An ambulance was sent to the scene where, on arrival, crews discovered two cars had been involved in a collision.
"There was one patient, a woman, who was treated for potentially serious injuries and conveyed to Worcestershire Royal Hospital."
An eyewitness to the incident said she was aware of something being wrong after noticing flashing lights outside her bathroom window.
She then saw police outside her home and a fire engine blocking the road.
“Since I have been stood here, they have cut a poor fellow out of the car.
"A silver car was up next to it, and they had to reverse it to get the person out.
“I never heard anything, and through the bathroom window, I just saw flashing lights.
“I have no idea what happened, but I just feel so bad for the person involved.”
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said no arrests were made following the incident and one woman was treated by ambulance crew.
It added: "Officers were called to Bath Road in Worcester at around 8.50am this morning (Tuesday, November 26), following a report of a two-vehicle collision."
A Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Two crews from Worcester Fire Station were called at 9.01am on November 26 to a road traffic collision involving a small vehicle on Bath Road, Worcester.
"The incident involves two vehicles.
"Crews have removed the roof of one of the vehicles to extricate a female casualty who has been handed over to the care of the ambulance service."
The road has now reopened.
