A hospital has been recognised for its outstanding patient care at a national awards ceremony.

Staff and doctors at the Droitwich Spa Hospital, part of Circle Health Group, were acknowledged for the quality of care they provide at the Laing Buisson Awards on Thursday (November 21) in London.

The hospital, which has 36 beds, was celebrated for the way it supports staff and patient outcomes, and the award presented to the hospital’s owners recognised the contribution the hospital makes to the overall success of the organisation.

The awards are held annually and aim to find a private hospital group that excels in the delivery of care for patients.

Judges this year noted that the hospital and Circle Health Group "showcased an excellent growth story" and "achieved market-leading outcomes that significantly improve patient access and affordability".

This is the second time in four years that it has been recognised as one of the UK’s leading hospitals.

In 2023, Circle Health Group had Patient Report Outcome Measures (PROMS) that were the highest in the independent sector for knee surgery and well above the national average in hip surgery.

PROMS are recognised as the gold standard for determining the clinical effectiveness of a hospital’s treatments and services.

The Droitwich Spa Hospital also had the lowest levels of infections and unplanned transfers of care on record.

The awards also considered how the hospital supports its workforce.

In 2023, it was involved in the launch of the independent sector’s first university programme in partnership with Liverpool John Moores University to offer staff a range of professional development courses sponsored by the group.

The hospital also offered staff more than 30 unique courses from nursing to administration and finance, utilising between 95-100 per cent of the national apprenticeship levy in 2023.
