CUSTOMERS were disappointed after a Worcestershire bank revealed it will close next week.
Lloyds Bank decided to close its Victoria Square branch in Droitwich on December 3 after revealing more customers are choosing to bank online.
The decision led many customers to voice their disappointment and Nigel Huddleston MP wrote to the branch about concerns that could affect small businesses that deposit cash.
A spokesperson for Lloyds Bank said: "Before we decided to permanently close the Droitwich branch, we carried out a thorough review to understand how our customers and the community would be impacted.
"We're now near to the closure of this branch, which will close on December 3, 2024.
"A number of customers said they were disappointed about the decision to close.
"We explained more about the local banking options available.
"Nigel Huddleston MP wrote to us and said that the branch closure will adversely affect small businesses that deposit cash and also impact vulnerable customers who rely on the branch.
"We responded outlining the assessment we undertake when considering closing a branch to ensure there are suitable alternatives."
This is the second bank in Victoria Square to announce a closure this year, after HSBC closed its doors in July.
The only remaining bank in the town will be Santander.
A detailed report on how people use the Droitwich branch found that 294 customers used the branch regularly across 12 months.
It found that 78 percent of its customers had used other Lloyds Bank branches, internet banking, or PhoneBank, and 29 percent of personal customers using the branch have also used the Post Office.
Once closed, the nearest Lloyds branch will be in Bromsgrove, 6.13 miles away, and Worcester, 6.24 miles away.
HSBC closed its doors in July after revealing that more customers have chosen to use online banking.
It was one of 114 HSBC branches set to close across the UK this year, with its nearest branch now 6.44 miles away on Bromsgrove High Street.
The store remains vacant.
