DROITWICH'S Christmas lights switch-on event is going ahead despite being scaled back by Storm Bert. 

The annual event will still go ahead today (November 23) but most activities have been moved inside as heavy rain is expected to hit the county this evening. 

The town's Christmas lights will be switched on at 6pm. 

Worcester has cancelled its Christmas lights switch-on event. 

The following events are still going ahead: 

- Santa's Grotto in St Richard's House, 10am till 5pm.

- Funfair on Victoria Square, midday until 6pm.

- St Andrews Shopping Centre, choir and light switch on, 5.15pm till 6pm. 

The following will also be taking place in the Community Hall in Heritage Way: 

- Market Stalls: midday - 5pm 

- Norbury Theatre: 2.30pm - 3pm 

- The Salvation Army Band: 3.30pm - 4pm 

- Westacre Middle School Choir: 4.15pm - 4.45pm 

- Lantern Festival: 4.30pm - 5pm 

- ENTW9: 4.45pm - 5pm 

- SB Danceworks: 5pm - 5.15pm
