Homeowners at a Worcester retirement village helped choose wines for a new list at a tasting event.
Residents of Mount Battenhall Retirement Village were invited to sample a variety of wines at a gathering with Bottles Wine Merchants.
The tasting took place in the village’s 'Allsopp’s Bar', a nod to the family who once owned the Grade II Listed Italianate Mansion.
Hannah Webb, from Bottles, introduced the tasters to a selection of exclusive wines.
Residents were given scorecards to rate each wine out of ten, sampling reds, whites, and rosés from Italy, France, Spain, and Australia.
Clare Davies, general manager of Mount Battenhall, said: "We were thrilled to welcome Hannah from Bottles to share her incredible knowledge and enthusiasm with our homeowners.
"It is important to ensure the people living here are involved in everything we do and the services we provide.
"The wine tasting evening was a fantastic opportunity for people to participate and further enhance our retirement community."
Bob Conolly, a homeowner at Mount Battenhall and a member of the tasting panel, said: "It was an excellent presentation and the host was brilliant.
"There were 11 wines in all and it was very interesting to hear all about them.
"I think these events are fantastic because they do get people engaged."
Hannah Webb has years of experience in hospitality and the wine trade and was keen to bring a selection of wines from their shop and bar on New Street to be sampled.
She said: "Hospitality, and wine, is a true passion of mine, and it was a joy to share this at the wine tasting event.
"Working with winemakers and wines from across the world, we are thrilled to support Mount Battenhall and its homeowners in curating a truly unique wine list."
The team at Bottles is now counting the results, and the highest-scoring wines will earn a place on the new Mount Battenhall wine list.
