A schoolboy has smashed a 10 kilometre charity run at a theme park.
Jonathan Wheatley, a year 11 student at Nunnery Wood High School, completed the race in just 57 minutes.
The event, held at Alton Towers theme park, was organised to raise funds and awareness for the National Autism Society.
Jonathan ran alongside 3,000 other participants, navigating the hilly route through the park.
His efforts raised more than £500 for the charity.
Jonathan said: "I did it because I enjoy running and I wanted to run for a charity that meant something to me.
"Autism can be very difficult for many people and this is a way to help.
"I was also excited to go on the rides after the run, especially in the dark."
The event allowed all participants to enjoy Alton Towers' famous rides after the race.
Jonathan said this provided some motivation for him to complete the run.
He admitted that the adrenaline from the race made the roller coasters even more thrilling.
Jonathan raised more than £500 for the National Autism Society through sponsorships from friends, family, and schoolmates.
