The Hopmarket will host a free artistic Christmas event.

The shopping square, on The Foregate, will be hosting Spare Room Arts on Saturday, November 30 for a family-friendly day of Christmas arts and crafts.

Thiis includes workshops for making sustainable Christmas lanterns and crackers.

The event will run from 11am until 4pm, and is free to attend.

Sarah Edwards, owner of the art company, said: "We are so looking forward to returning to The Hopmarket this Christmas.

"Our events are always hugely popular in this versatile space.

"Taking place during the city’s busy Victorian Christmas Fayre, our event will allow families a bit of tranquillity away from the main hustle and bustle of the fayre, as well as dedicated – and free – activities for children to enjoy."

This event follows Spare Room Arts' summer workshops at the shopping square.

Bill Simpson, chairman of The Hopmarket Charitable Trust, which manages the site, said: "We are delighted to be welcoming back Spare Room Arts this Christmas.

"As an independent shopping courtyard in the heart of our community, such events are hugely important to us, bringing residents, visitors and shop tenants together."
