THE Canal and River Trust needs to replace a lock gate at Diglis Basin.
The gate at Lock No2, on the Worcester and Birmingham Canal, is Grade II listed and so the trust needs permission from the city council before it can carry out the work.
Lock gates need to be replaced every 20-25 years when they reach the end of their working life.
According to the trust, the gates at Lock No2 date from 2003 and are displaying some deterioration.
New gates and balance beams are hand-made at the trust’s workshop in Wednesbury in the Black Country.
