Representatives from Worcester's Friends Groups met for the first time at the Guildhall.

The inaugural 'Gathering of Friends' was on Saturday (November 9).

The groups are volunteers who work together to undertake projects or support causes, such as caring for parks or nature reserves.

The idea for the meeting was conceived by Karen O'Callaghan and supported by the Community Engagement Team.

Ms O'Callaghan said: "As a newly established group, it was helpful to talk to others with similar objectives and to learn of the successes and challenges they had overcome."

The meeting was a success, with lots of actions and activities agreed.

The Community Engagement Team's Lisa and Alex, who facilitated the meeting, were impressed by the immediate camaraderie among the groups.

Representatives from Friends of Laugherne Brook, Fort Royal, Fort Royal Park Rangers, Warndon Villages, Diglis Fields, Cripplegate Park, and Newtown Green took part.

Future meetings are planned, with an open invitation to other Friends Groups or interested individuals.
