A POPULAR space used for the public display of eye-catching art is on the move as a result of new plans for the building.
The Worcester Plinth is leaving The Screen House in Hylton Road in Worcester as the last piece of art to be displayed there is removed.
‘Anything But Ordinary’ by Mr A Singh - the latest artwork on The Worcester Plinth has been taken down and moved to the atrium of The Hive where it will be displayed for two weeks.
This will be the last artwork to be displayed by The Worcester Plinth at its current location as the owner has new plans for the building.
However, The Worcester Plinth team say they are keen to continue and plan to announce 'exciting news shortly'.
The Screen House has displayed an eclectic range of art from ‘Hendrix in Worcester’ for Jimi Hendrix’s 70th birthday; ‘The Return of the Mayfish’ to mark the opening of the fish pass at Diglis; “Sky Lions” reflecting on the strange animal carvings in the cathedral and ‘Swift Drift’ highlighting the plight of the swift.
Organiser say they are looking forward to displaying more exciting contemporary art in the city in the future.
“We’d like to thank the owner of the Screen House for allowing us to use the roof to display new art,” said Oliver Carpenter who leads The Worcester Plinth Team.
“It is such a prominent and well recognised feature of the city’s riverside feature that we look forward to seeing what it can become in the near future.”
