A SUPERMARKET has closed as it applies the finishing touches to its major refurbishment.

Shopping at Sainsbury's at Blackpole has been very different over the last few months as the store has undergone a major refit.

This includes the chain installing a new Argos store, adding new fixtures and fittings and installing new technology to enhance the business on Windermere Drive.

The store will officially open to showcase its refurbishment on Wednesday (November 20) at 9am.

A spokesperson for Sainsbury's said: “Over the past few months, we’ve been working hard to extensively refurbish our Blackpole supermarket.

"We’re introducing lots of improvements, including refreshed and improved food ranges, a brand-new Argos store, new fixtures and fittings to enhance the look and feel of the store and new technology that will help make it more energy efficient.

“The supermarket is now temporarily closed until next Wednesday while we complete the finishing touches on the project.

"We’d like to thank the local community for bearing with us throughout the store’s transformation and we look forward to welcoming everyone back next week.”

Other improvements included upgrading its refrigerators to make the store more energy efficient as part of its sustainability Plan for Better.

Some parent and child parking spaces and a trolley bay would be moved to make room for the new equipment.

Overall, 12 parking spaces would be lost, leaving the store with a total of 310.
