THE council has issued this correction over extra buses put on during the city's Christmas Fayre as the city prepares to welcome thousands of visitors.

Extra buses will be available on Friday and Saturday, not Sunday during the Victorian Christmas Fayre in Worcester.

Worcester City Council issued the correction after a new park and ride location was confirmed for the popular Worcester Victorian Christmas Fayre, which arrives in the city later this month.

The four-day festive event takes place between Thursday, November 28 and Sunday, December 1 and is set to be filled with almost 200 stalls once again.

With the Fayre expected to attract over 150,000 visitors across the event, taking the bus or park and ride service will be one of the most convenient ways for those traveling into the city.

Event sponsors First Bus will be running the park and ride service (number 901) from Sixways Stadium to Worcester Crowngate Bus Station on Friday (from 4.35pm) and all day Saturday and on Sunday. This is a change from past years, when the service ran from County Hall.

The last park and ride service will depart Worcester at 10.15pm on Friday and Saturday evenings. On Sunday, the last service will be at 7.10pm.

There will also be enhanced evening bus services across the weekend.

On Friday and Saturday extra services to Dines Green (30), Blackpole (35), Great Malvern (44), and Bromsgrove (144) will leave later than standard services.

Sam Lucker, from First Worcester’s marketing team, said: “Last year we saw record numbers using this convenient and stress-free way to enjoy the Fayre, and this year we hope to build on that even further."
