A WELL-used bridge in Droitwich was made safer as work is set to begin to give it a new lease of life.
The Chawson railway bridge, often called the Green Bridge, will be given a new look as work starts on its makeover.
The bridge has already been recently resurfaced with its old floor that had begun to wear replaced with an even gravel surface.
White lines have also been painted on the edge of each step of the bridge.
Councillor Richard Morris, Worcestershire County Councillor for Droitwich, said the resurfacing will hopefully make the bridge safer.
He added: "While it’s taken a while, I am happy that the requested maintenance work is now underway.
"I appreciate the support from the Chawson Residents group in raising the issues."
Cllr Morris said the bridge still needs to be painted and he hopes Platform Housing will undertake resurfacing work on the pavement as you enter the bridge.
