A SHOPLIFTER has been convicted of stealing from two supermarkets in a Worcestershire town.
Kathleen Chesworth of Upton Snodsbury Road in Pinvin has been given jail time after stealing from Asda and the Co-op in Pershore.
The 41 year old stole twice from Asda and once from Co-op between October 18 and October 30, taking large quantities of meat and pizza as well as £100 worth of laundry products.
She has been sentenced to six weeks in prison plus a further 18 month suspended sentence when she is released.
She was also ordered to attend a six month drug rehabilitation programme and pay £100 in compensation costs.
PCSO Bex Ashley said “We know the impact that shoplifting has on retailers, and we are continuing to take action to bring offenders to justice.
"This is a quick result with Chesworth appearing in court and being imprisoned following her arrest on 6th November. Myself and the rest of the Pershore Team are grateful to response officers for their help.
"The suspended sentence acts as a deterrent to prevent reoffending in the future. We hope this sends a clear message to deter other offenders.”
Chesworth pleaded guilty to three charges of theft from shops at Kidderminster Magistrates court yesterday (November 7).
The shoplifter was previously jailed for 21 weeks in February after going on a stealing spree last year.
On February 22, Worcester Magistrates Court heard Chesworth stole the following in 2023:
