CLASSIC cars from across the Cotswolds have taken part in the first-ever Gulf Road Trip.

Members from Cotswold Classic Car Club visited three Gulf sites in the region in October as part of a national Gulf Road Trip Challenge.

The Cotswold group joined other car enthusiasts across the UK in travelling to their local Gulf sites as part of a world first.

Between the groups, including QS Car Club, MQ Owners Club, Cumbria Classic Car Club and Glasgow Moggies, they travelled more than 300 miles.

The Cotswold leg of the challenge was particularly impressive according to Certas Energy who organised the event.

The group visited Gulf Quarry Service Station in Bourton-on-the-Hill, Gulf Fosse Fuel Express in Leamington Spa and Gulf Tewkesbury Service Station.

Sue Kennaby from Cotswold Classic Car Club said: “The Cotswolds is a beautiful part of the country to drive around.

"We started off at Gulf Quarry Service Station in Bourton-on-the-Hill. The staff were superb! The manager couldn’t do enough to make us happy.

“From there we went down to Moreton-on-the-Marsh and Gulf Fosse Fuel Express in Leamington Spa where some classic cars were waiting on the forecourt to see us.

“After that we retracted our steps and went to Tewkesbury winding through country lanes and every little village.

“We went right through the centre of Stratford-upon-Avon where lots of people stopped and waved and took photos.

"And we went through the middle of Evesham too.

“We do lots of runs but we’ve never done a run in collaboration with a company before, so it was absolutely lovely to be part of this with Gulf.

“If people think their car is a classic, then they’re welcome to come and join in.

"The more the merrier."

Cars within the group included an Austin Atlantic, a Sunbeam Rapier, a 1959 Austin-Healey Frogeye Sprite, a 1936 Triumph Gloria, a Triumph TR3, a 1965 Morris Minor, 1973 Ford Cortina Mk3, and a 1968 Volvo Amazon.

Jessica Lilley, Certas Energy retail marketing manager, said: “The road trip was a huge success.

"Gulf super fans have long been asking for a road trip across our sites, so we’re thrilled to have made that happen with the help of car groups nationwide.

“It’s been great to shine a light on these eye-catching cars and our independent sites through the road trip.

“Our drivers braved the autumn weather and brought a smile to the faces of Gulf customers, team members and local residents.

"We’re very grateful for all their support."
