A FORMER Army veteran who now owns a city stonemasons has revealed a touching Remembrance Day display in its window.

The Stonemasons of Worcester showroom on New Street, Worcester unveiled the display on Saturday (November 2) ahead of Remembrance Day.

The display - an idea formed by owner and former army veteran Tom Adams - includes the silhouette of a soldier in a field of poppies looking down at a headstone with its own spitfire design.

Stonemasons of Worcester's director, Zoe Adams, said: "Tom used to serve in the army so Remembrance Day is one he feels particularly strongly about.

"It's important to do things like this to get the message out to future generations because we don't want to lose that knowledge around the sacrifices that were made.

"As people walk past the shop, the display will hopefully catch the eye and create conversation.

"We want younger people to continue to enquire about that period in our history."

The design on the headstone was done by Stonemasons of Worcester's very own monumental artist, Lewis Neale.

The poppies were created by Worcester artist Catt Standen, who has previously designed street and window art in the city through Worcester BID.

Mrs Adams added: "There are so many different techniques in the display and it's great to promote local artists."
