FIRST floor offices above a shop could be transformed into four apartments but one councillor fears the flats would be 'tiny'.

The proposal at 4 Cranham Drive in Warndon, Worcester would involve the part demolition of existing first-floor office space above the Spar shop to make way for the flats.

If approved, the offices would be replaced by four apartments. An application by J S Convenience (Holdings) Limited was handed in to Worcester City Council on Tuesday, October 22 and a consultation will run until Tuesday, November 19.

Cllr Jill Desayrah, the Labour city councillor for Warndon and Elbury Park, said she wanted to make people aware of the application and that the decision had been called in for future scrutiny by planners.

"I will be canvassing local opinion", she said. She added: "We're not comfortable that this is the right sort of accommodation to be built there. They are tiny."

She said she was concerned the flats would be one bedroom for single people.

No planning committee date has yet been set for the application to be considered.

Worcester News has attempted to contact the developer.

The application reference is 24/00796/FUL.
