A primary school has scooped a national award for its art project.
St George’s CE Primary School, in Worcester, has won The Big Draw Schools Award for its Drawing with Senses project.
The project was part of The Big Draw Festival 2023, which is a worldwide celebration of drawing.
The judges said the St George’s Drawing with Senses project "stood out for its originality, inclusivity, strong sense of community engagement, and creative exploration of the theme."
The awards added: "The judges were particularly impressed with the remarkable range of sensory experiences you offered, from walking drawings in the garden to immersive shadow play in the sensory room.
"It was heartening to hear how your event brought together pupils, staff, families, and neighbours for a joyful, inclusive and non-judgemental celebration of creativity.
"It is clear that your efforts made a lasting impact, and we are very proud to recognise your accomplishment."
The project was led by artist teachers Helen Zihni and Claire Horacek and welcomed 150 people to the school for a day of creativity, based on seeing, hearing, smelling, touching and tasting.
A spokesperson for the school said: "We are all delighted to have been awarded the Big Draw Schools Award for our Drawing the Senses day.
"It was a joyous school event where experimentation and creativity was celebrated by the whole community."
