A CRASH on the motorway near Worcester caused long rush hour delays on the roads as traffic was 'stopped' while police responded.
Traffic was reported to be stopped on the M5 southbound between junction 5 (Droitwich) and junction 6 (Worcester) due to a crash on Friday.
Delays of at least 30 minutes above normal travel times were being reported during the incident.
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: “Officers were called to a collision on the M5 southbound near to junction 5.
"Emergency services remained on the scene as the area was made safe. No arrests were made."
Although three lanes reopened on the M5 later in the morning, one lane remained closed for long term works with delays of about 20 minutes above normal travel time according to National Highways West Midlands.
It is not understood the fire and ambulance service attended the incident.
