DELIGHTED staff are celebrating after their hospital was rated good following a recent inspection by the national healthcare watchdog.
Droitwich Spa Hospital has been rated as good by the Care Quality Commission following an inspection in March and a report released on Monday (October 28).
Inspectors noted how well staff worked together and their pride in their delivery of care at the 36-bedroom hospital on St Andrews Road.
Claire Davenport, executive director of The Droitwich Spa Hospital, said: “We are overjoyed to have been rated “Good” following our inspection by the CQC.
"This is a great reflection on the hard work and dedication of our staff across the hospital.
"This is a challenging time for people working in healthcare and to have had our culture and delivery of care recognised as making a difference to the patients we care for is incredibly rewarding.
“We are fully committed to delivering the best possible care for patients in Droitwich Spa and further afield.
"We look forward to building on this to achievement and working towards obtaining an “Outstanding” rating across all domains.”
The CQC regulates private hospitals to same level as NHS hospitals, looking at how well providers perform in five ‘domains’ from patient safety to overall hospital management.
The five domains are medical care, surgery, outpatients, diagnostic imaging and overall.
In the hospitals previous inspection in 2019 it was awarded 'good' for the first three however 'inadequate' for diagnostic imaging and required improvement for overall.
In the report the Care Quality Commission said: "Droitwich Spa Hospital provides a wide range of procedures from routine investigations to surgical procedures.
"This assessment reviewed the diagnostic imaging department only.
"The diagnostics service provides the following: X-ray, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT), ultrasound and a mobile C-arm fluoroscopic X-ray system.
"We visited the diagnostics service unannounced on 19 March 2024.
"We spoke with 11 staff including radiographers, health care assistants, administrators, radiologists, and senior managers.
"We spoke with 3 patients.
"We also reviewed 10 sets of patient records.
"Our last inspection of the diagnostics service was published on 23 April 2019 and rated the service as inadequate.
"This assessment rated the diagnostic service as good."
