A NURSERY has achieved a top Ofsted rating just a year after opening.

Mini Moos at Churchfields Day Nursery in Salwarpe, near Droitwich, has received an 'Outstanding' rating from Ofsted following its inspection in August - having only opened in September 2023.

Bianca Delord, who owns Mini Moos alongside her sister, Dominique, said: "We're delighted with the result.

"It means so much to have achieved this at such an early stage in the nursery's life.

"The way we deliver our learning is quite unique - it's a fun environment for children."

Ofsted's report highlights Mini Moo's setting at Churchfields Farm, stating that "all children flourish in this unique nursery," before adding that "children delight in exploring the freedom of the working farm."

Dominique Delord said: "We have adapted the farm park environment to make it as educational as possible and as interesting as possible for children.

"They thrive off it and it keeps them engaged.

"Ultimately, it all forms how we deliver our learning here."

Bianca Delord added: "It's an outside-the-box experience.

"We support the children in any direction their learning takes them."

Ofsted's report says: "Children's behaviour is exemplary as they move around the farm and the atmosphere in the nursery is calm.

"This is preparing all children extremely well for their next stage of education."

Since opening, Mini Moos - which caters to children aged two-to-five - has also created a forest school at the nursery.

Bianca Delord said: "We do three sessions a week there.

"It really goes back to basics and it's completely child-led, flexible and enables the children to play without the restrictions they may have indoors."

The report frequently highlights the role staff play too.

The education watchdog states that "staff skilfully extend learning," and "provide a range of experiences that continuously motivate children to learn".

Dominique Delord said: "We have a real range of staff here and we draw on the experience of all of them.

"Regardless of where each one is in terms of their qualifications and experience, they have all been invaluable to us."

"They have a natural ability to nurture children and tune into their needs and interests."
