THEN: The northern end of Hylton Road in Worcester alongside the River Severn in 2008 with the Crown and Anchor pub in full flow.
It was well located by the river and the ever-growing University of Worcester.
Boasting two bars, a function room and skittles alley and conservatory expansion along with space at the back outside, it was a lively venue at times and a favourite for some either side of the river going further back.
The last remaining pub in the road, a watering hole at the site may have dated back to around 1790.
NOW: The same location in 2024 with the Crown and Anchor having been shut since the mid-2010s.
The future of the site has been up in the air with plans for flats refused in the past.
The derelict building was hit by an arson attack in 2021 and before that in 2016 cannabis plants were discovered being grown in the men’s toilets.
Last year plans for flats were approved for the site subject to conditions after residents’ concerns over parking problems.
