PROGRESS on the city's first-ever pump track is on schedule despite "petty complaints."
Work on the new pump track at Battenhall Park in Worcester was started by Clark & Kent Contractors earlier this month and has reached a major checkpoint, with tarmac being laid on the track.
Clark & Kent Contractors' co-owner, Clark Bridgett, said: "We're very pleased with it.
"I think the pump track has gone in line with how a project such as this should go at this time of year, with the inclement weather.
"As a contractor we're very proud of how it has shaped up - it's on schedule and on budget."
Turfing around the new track and general landscaping are being finalised now as the project nears completion.
Mr Bridgett said: "This is despite a lady that has been visiting the site regularly - for around four hours most days.
"She has photographed and videoed us and has been raising concerns to the council - all petty complaints.
"She was amongst those who have been against the project going ahead."
The pump track was greenlit by Worcester City Council in January following a consultation process across October and November 2023.
Speaking last year, Worcester City Council's corporate director of operations, homes and communities, Lloyd Griffiths, said: "Although most respondents were supportive, it was clear there was local opposition to it."
Speaking on-site in Battenhall Park, Mr Bridgett reserved praise for the council. He said: "We want to compliment Worcester City Council on how forward thinking they have been.

"Particularly two people within the council, Alan Breen and Alan New, who have helped implement the project."
Alongside turf, benches, safety signage and a bin will be installed at the track.
Mr Bridgett said: "Our ambition is to have it completed next week.
"We're very excited to see it being enjoyed by the community and I think the shape of the track is perfect for its user group.
"Its design was developed through consultation groups with those potential users."
The pump track has been developed for beginners and experienced riders of standard and adapted bikes, scooters, rollerblades, and skateboards.
