A CURRY house Evesham has been named one of the best in the UK.
Evesham Balti, on the Waterside, was announced as one the country's top ten curry houses in the Editor's Choice category at the 2024 Curry Life Awards.
The event celebrates the success of curry houses across the UK, which now have an annual turnover of £4 billion.
Ansar Miah, owner of Evesham Balti, said: "Winning an award has made everyone at the restaurant very happy and it will be great for business.
"I plan to be working for many more years as I enjoy cooking and interacting with customers."
Evesham Balti first opened in 2000, but Mr Miah would not take over the business until 2009, when he became the owner and chef.
The restaurant provides a range of authentic and imaginative traditional Indian and Bangladeshi fusion dishes.
Mr Miah said his experience working in restaurants helped him to transform the business: "I've honed my recipes and style of cooking over the years, learning on the job and adding my own take on the dishes, many of which I created from scratch.
"I'm really proud of the staff and the way the business has gone from strength to strength."
The awards are hosted every year by the curry cuisine magazine Curry Life. Over 500 guests attended this years event at Grosvenor Square, Mayfair, including secretary of state for health and social care, Wes Streeting, and founder of Cobra Beer, Lord Karan Bilimoria CBE.
Syed Belal Ahmed, editor of the Curry Life Media Group, said: "A major aim of the awards has always been to highlight the best practice going on across the country so that everyone has the opportunity to learn from the best.
"Over the many years we have been staging the awards, we have seen major improvements in standards and quality being offered to customers."
Moreton-in-Marsh restaurant Raj Mahal also received an award at the event after head chef Abzar Hussain won the Best Chef Category.
