The award is part of the CyberFirst Schools initiative, which commends secondary schools and further education colleges for dedication to inspiring future cyber security experts and addressing the UK's cyber skills gap.

Lee Boniface, curriculum leader of the computing department at the school, said: "We are honoured to receive the CyberFirst Schools award from the National Cyber Security Centre.

"This recognition reflects our commitment to providing a robust cybersecurity curriculum at Nunnery Wood High School."

He added: "We take great pride in how our students actively participate in cybersecurity initiatives, events, and career development opportunities.

"We are highly passionate about fostering an inclusive environment for young people from diverse backgrounds, genders, ethnicities, and cultures in the field of cybersecurity.

"Both our students and computing staff greatly value the connections we have established with Cyber First and the enrichment these opportunities bring to their educational experience."

The school has various initiatives aimed at engaging pupils, such as lunchtime coding clubs, sessions with industry leaders in cyber skills, and advanced education in AI, AR, cyber threats, and network protection.

Headteacher Stephen Powell said: "We’ve been proud of our computing department for many years, and it’s great to have this award, which recognises the fantastic results and activities they offer."
