ANOTHER cannabis farm has been found in a Worcestershire town, making it the third empty shop to be raided in just five months.

Police have unveiled another cannabis farm on Droitwich High Street, in the former Droitwich Spa Fish Bar chip shop.

It is now the second cannabis farm to be located on the same street after one was found five months previously in the old sweet shop at 4 High Street.

West Mercia Police said they conducted the raid at the former Droitwich Spa Fish Bar on Wednesday (October 16).

Nobody was located inside, although evidence was found that someone had been living in the property.

A spokesperson for South Worcestershire NCFT said: “Following police intelligence and information provided by members of the Droitwich community, we have acted on this, and 50 Cannabis plants have been found.

"We will investigate and then if appropriate, act on the information provided.

“Cannabis cultivation is often a key source of illicit income for groups involved in other serious and organised crime so the removal of these plants will bring disruption.”

Then, September saw NCFT cut their way into the cannabis grow inside two vacant neighbouring shops in Ombersley Street East, opposite Droitwich Police Station.

Inside the shops, police recovered 176 cannabis plants with a maximum street value of more than £147,000.

At the time, one resident said: "I can't believe the brass neck of them.

"What is it, about 30 feet from the police station?

"It's literally across the road."

Just outside the town, another cannabis farm was discovered in a large metal farm building on The Saltway, Hanbury back in February.
