A new lighting scheme has been installed in a popular Droitwich park.

Solar-powered lights have been installed along pathways in Lido Park to make the area more attractive in the evening.

The scheme was driven by the Droitwich Spa Place Board and funded by Wychavon's share of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, part of the Government's Levelling Up agenda.

Councillor Richard Morris, executive board member for economic growth and tourism on Wychavon District Council, said: "The new lighting is a fantastic addition to Droitwich Spa, creating a safe and beautiful effect that complements the park.

"They really are something that must be seen.

"It's a great example of how place boards are already delivering this type of quick-win project in the town, which is helping improve and enhance our town centres."

Matt Nicol, chair of the Droitwich Spa Place Board, said: "Our parks are a real draw, attracting lots of people to the town and making it a popular place to visit during the day.

"This new light trail has improved the appeal and visitor experience during the evening, making the park feel even safer and more attractive."

Vines Park in Droitwich will also have solar lights fitted in spring 2025.

The board was established in 2022 to help deliver the town's vision, as set out in the Droitwich Spa Investment Prospectus.

It is made up of community members, including businesses, and is supported by Wychavon.
