THE floodgates at Toronto Close have been closed for the first time.
Toronto Close has a history of flooding from the River Severn and River Teme, which impacts the water level of the nearby Laughern Brook during and after heavy rainfall.
There are currently flood alerts in place for the River Severn and the River Teme, with heavy rainfall expected.
The £2.5 million flood risk management scheme for Toronto Close in Lower Wick area was completed last month.
In July 2007, 16 properties flooded, while in 2020 during Storm Dennis many residents had to evacuate their homes.
