A Worcester care home has welcomed a fire station crew for a special visit.

The Belmont care home welcomed the Worcester Fire Station crew on Thursday, October 3 having met during Emergency Services Day.

The care home had previously delivered treats to the fire station, and the visit was a chance for the firefighters to meet the residents and tour the home.

The event began with the arrival of the fire truck, much to the residents' delight.

The crew was welcomed by the customer relations manager, Carla Sidaway, and invited to sit down for a cup of tea.

The residents chatted with the firefighters, asking them about life in the fire service, the challenges they face, and how busy they get.

The conversation flowed both ways, with the firefighters learning about life at the care home, forming a bond with the community.

After the tea and conversations, the crew was given a tour of the home.

They had the chance to meet more residents and see the facilities that the care home offers.

Following the tour, everyone gathered outside to explore the fire truck, where the crew demonstrated their various pieces of equipment, explaining their functions.

The highlight of the day was when one of the residents had the chance to try on a fire helmet.

Ms Sidaway said: "This was a great morning for our residents.

"They were filled with excitement when they found out the fire service were coming with the truck and eagerly awaited their arrival.

"They enjoyed sitting with a cup of tea and speaking with them and especially enjoyed the tour of the truck.

"We look forward to seeing them again for another visit soon."

Tristan Lockyer, watch commander for Green Watch, expressed his appreciation after visiting The Belmont.

He said that it was a pleasure to meet the residents and take part in a detailed tour of the home.

Mr Lockyer said he was particularly impressed with the level of care provided to the residents and pointed out the importance of the tour in helping his team familiarise themselves with the property, should they ever need to respond to an incident there.
