A FLOOD alert has been issued for the River Severn in Worcestershire with water beginning to rise and spill onto paths in Worcester.
Worcester, Kempsey, Severn Stoke and Upton upon Severn are among the locations expected by potential flooding.
River levels are rising at the Bewdley river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall.
Flooding of roads and farmland is expected today (Thursday, October 17).

It is expected flooding will affect low lying land and roads adjacent the river from Highley to Tewkesbury.
Stourport, Holt Fleet, Worcester, Kempsey, Severn Stoke and Upton upon Severn, B4195 Stourport Road at Rickets Place, Dog Lane Bewdley, Riverside Path Stourport and B4194 at Ribsford are among those impacted.
Water at the River Severn at Diglis, near the Worcester Bridge, is very high, with water breaking the banks and beginning to spill over onto the path.
It is predicted to peak at 4.1m in Worcester on Saturday, October 19.
It is expected to reach Diglis 3.8m to 4.3m on the same day and 6.3m at Kempsey Yacht Club.
A statement on the gov.uk website said: "Further rainfall is forecast over the weekend.
"We expect river levels to remain high for the next few days.
"We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking defences, and liaising with emergency services and or Local Authorities.
"Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses."
An update is expected at 4pm today or as the situation changes.
