AN OUTDOOR clothing shop in the city centre has announced it is closing ahead of being converted.

Blacks, in The Shambles in Worcester, has announced it is set to close in January next year before being converted and re-opened as GO Outdoors Express, a specialist outdoor brand.

The Blacks and GO Outdoors Express brands are both part of JD Outdoors, a retail group which also features Millets.

Lee Bagnall, CEO of JD Outdoors, said: "With the best outdoor brands we are confident this conversion will offer a rewarding shopping experience for outdoor enthusiasts in Worcester.

"The new GO Express store will also allow Worcester shoppers to benefit from our GO Outdoors loyalty programme which provides lower prices available for members.

"While this may come as a surprise to some of our loyal Blacks' customers in Worcester we are committed to continuing to provide the level of service and quality that our customers expect in the GO Express stores."

Signs in Blacks' windows say '30 per cent off' and 'All stock must go' ahead of the closure.

JD Outdoors was unable to confirm the exact date of closure in January 2025 or the number of days required for the conversion before opening GO Outdoors Express.
